About Marcia Nelson
Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, my culinary journey began at my grandmother’s side. Watching her effortlessly cook without measuring ingredients fascinated me from a young age. As I grew older, my love for cooking deepened, fueled by collecting cookbooks and admiring chefs’ food presentations on television.
In 2008, my family and I relocated to Austin, Texas, where the diverse culinary scene ignited my passion for cooking even further. Dining out became not only about savoring spectacular flavors but also appreciating the artistry in plating and presentation.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, I delved deeper into my passion for cooking, launching “My Version,” a project where I put my own spin on recipes and shared them with my family. It was during this time that I became captivated by food styling.
Inspired by a picnic my daughter had with her friends, I created a charcuterie board that was an instant hit. This led to the inception of Meat the Boards. Since then, I’ve delighted in bringing charcuterie boards to gatherings, relishing in the joy they bring to others as they explore the delicious offerings.
For me, cooking and baking are about more than just food; they’re about creating unforgettable experiences and forging lasting connections. With each creation, I continue to refine my craft and infuse it with my own unique touch.
